Intermediate care facility (ICF) serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Our Story

Texas Rural Health Services is a family owned and operated intermediate care facility serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Texas Rural Health Services (TRHS) is an ICF/ID facility but many refer to it as home. Here we are a family taking care of family. We began in 1992 when Trenda James, co-founder, started three residential homes in Lee County; eventually adding two more in Fayette County. Sticking to our rural roots, we continue to maintain our central office and workshop activity center in La Grange, Texas.

Today the next generation continues Trenda’s legacy, serving the people who have become part of the TRHS Family. On average, our team members are with us over six years, and many of our residents find this is where they want to stay. Through continuity of care, and quality staff, we strive to meet all individuals where they are and create individualized training plans to meet their needs. Our job is to serve, carefully guide, and advocate for everyone in our care.

From our family to yours, we are committed to helping people remove barriers and grow into their full potential through meaningful connections.
